Dr. Hilderman Disappointed with UNMF's Copyright Inaction

Dr. Hilderman, the musician turned politician, expressed his dissatisfaction with the members of Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) led by Eddy Kenzo.

During a recent event on Thursday, Hilderman voiced his disappointment, revealing that he felt marginalized by fellow musicians, particularly those within the UNMF, when he was advocating for the implementation of copyright law in parliament.

Despite his tireless efforts to promote and table the copyright law, Hilderman claimed that many musicians ignored his appeals and failed to share their perspectives on the matter.

Hilderman expressed admiration for the unity displayed by boda boda riders, who rally together to defend their rights whenever their profession is under scrutiny. In contrast, he criticized musicians for being self-centered, stating, "I was disregarded by all the federations and, especially, by fellow musicians at a time when I was dedicated to advancing the copyright law."

As the shadow minister of Culture and Arts, Hilderman emphasized that the UNMF should seek his guidance on how to effectively fight for their copyright objectives.
